Job summary

Amcor in Smyrna, Tennessee is hiring a full-time Maintenance Technician to perform start-of-shift inspections, verify guarding and cycle times, monitor loading systems, grinders, hydraulics, and to carry out timely PMs with accurate work orders. The role includes minor repairs to correct quality issues and recording downtime reports, with strong safety practices.

You will support Production Assistants, QAs, other Mechanics, Technicians, and Engineers, follow PLASTICS-specific maintenance tasks,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Able to read and follow technical manuals.
• Forklift certification preferred or certifiable.
• Willing to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs during 12-hour shift.
• Experience in plastics maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machines for proper guarding and safe operation at shift start.
• Perform preventive maintenance and record Downtime Reports.
• Make minor adjustments/repairs to correct Quality issues.
• Support other maintenance and production staff as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE.

• Verify machines are running proper cycle times at start of shift


• Verify material loading system is not running behind at start of shift and after every break

• Verify all machines are working properly and not slamming at the start of shift


• Perform PMs in a timely manner and properly fill out the PM work orders

• Report all parts used immediately so replacements can be ordered in a timely manner


• Changeover equipment, startup equipment, and make minor processing adjustments


• Will be responsible for recording machine issues and submitting Downtime Report

Requirements

• Must have own set of basic tools


• Preferably has PLASTICS experience


• Able to stand, walk, lift, reach, bend, and climb continuously during 12 hour shift


• Good communication and organizational skills


• Can read and work from technical manuals


• Can use math as applied to maintenance work


• Can follow written instructions with minimal supervision


• Forklift certifiable


• Work well with others


• Positive morale


• Able to make thoughtful well-reasoned decisions


• Can pick up and move up to 50 pounds


• Must follow all Safety behaviors and keep a clean work space


• Must wear long sleeve shirts, pants, steel toe, ear plugs, safety glasses, hard hat, and hair net


• Experience in one of the following required:
