Job summary

Sunrise Telecom Inc is seeking a HDD Directional Drill Operator/ Crew Leader Utility Locator to operate drilling equipment and accurately locate utilities during horizontal directional drilling. You will guide the drill head and ensure the bore follows the approved path while maintaining depth and alignment, with safety and quality in mind.

The role requires reading locate paints, interpreting job layouts, and coordinating with the crew to document daily production and reports.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must have 2 years directional drill experience as a drill operator or locator.
Able to use a utility locator to find existing underground utilities.

Responsibilities

Read locate paint or locate flags of utility placement and interpret the job layout.
Maintain and operate drill equipment and related tools.
Read and interpret design prints and organize materials for excavation requirements.
Maintain bore logs and service drill components; relay issues to technicians.
Lift and move heavy weights (100+ pounds) to operate equipment.
Complete and submit daily reports.
Communicate job status and issues with customers or crew.
