Job summary

United Utility Services is seeking an HDD Apprentice to support directional drilling crews in underground utility installation. The role offers hands-on training and advancement opportunities within HDD operations, with responsibilities spanning field activities, equipment handling, and site preparation.

Candidates should be prepared for physically demanding outdoor work, have a high school diploma or GED, and possess a valid driver's license; CDL permit and OSHA 10 are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Construction or utility experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors and operate basic hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist HDD crews with daily construction activities.
• Inspect, grease, fuel, and inspect drilling equipment and support vehicles.
• Load and unload tools, conduit, pipe, and job materials.
• Dig entry pits, exit pits, and potholes as directed.
• Assist with utility exposure and verification activities.
• Support setup and breakdown of job sites.
• Perform restoration activities including grading, backfill, and cleanup.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in safe operating condition.
• Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
• Attend required safety meetings and training programs.
• Learn HDD operations, locating procedures, and utility installation practices.
• Perform additional labor and support duties as assigned.
