Job summary

The Project Manager at The University of Iowa’s Health Care Information Systems leads PMI-based project management for capital construction initiatives across HCIS. You will plan, coordinate, and manage technology scope for small- to mid-size projects, coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors.

Responsibilities include budget tracking, schedule management, and risk mitigation across design, construction, and activation phases, with a strong focus on stakeholder

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information technology, architecture, engineering, construction management, construction administration, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3 years project management experience implementing and managing multiple small- to medium-scale programs/projects, preferably including capital construction and/or technology integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong focus on customer service, utilizing established PMO program/project management methodology, processes, procedures, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience assisting with project and technology budgets, including budget tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and consensus with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead process improvement activities, make enhancement recommendations, and implement workflow and business process changes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management, technical and non-technical users, and project team members.
  • Demonstrated strong project management, organizational, and facilitation skills, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple small- to medium-scale projects.
  • Proficiency in PMBOK concepts and project management principles, methodology, processes, tools, and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, estimate, organize, and manage multiple small- to medium-scale projects and/or assist with larger-scale projects.
  • Apply PMI methodology, standard status reporting, templates, and tools to deliver assigned projects successfully to plan.
  • Serve as a functional resource supporting the connection between HCIS and Capital Management, helping translate business practice into systems and services.
  • Assist with the development and tracking of technology budgets for assigned capital projects.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support project scope.
  • Support effective cross-functional communication between HCIS and Capital Management.
  • Assist with analyzing and documenting business processes to validate project scope and support budget creation.
  • Maintain SharePoint repositories and project documentation for timely resource assignment and coordination.
  • Review and maintain capital project schedules and communicate issues with recommendations.
  • Identify risks, assumptions, and constraints; help create contingency plans and elevate complex issues.
