Job summary

The MRA Coder role at DaMar Staffing focuses on coordinating retrospective and concurrent chart reviews using HCC coding to translate, input, extract and validate medical record data. You will review medical histories and reports to ensure diagnoses are supported by documentation, schedule chart reviews with physician practices, and help obtain records for audits.

Fluency in English and Spanish, a CPC/CPMA/CRC/CCS-P/CCS credential, and expert Excel skills are required to support compliant risk

Qualifications

• CPC /CPMA/ CRC/ CCS-P/ CCS/ RHIA or RHIT certification.
• Minimum 3 years of Medicare Risk Adjustment coding.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Familiar with HCC Dashboard tool.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Review patient medical history and reports to verify that diagnosis codes are supported by documentation.
• Schedule chart reviews with physician practices.
• Assist in obtaining medical records for audits requested by Health Plans.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations related to coding and documentation guidelines for Risk Adjustment.
• Educate physicians regarding proper billing and documentation policies and procedures, and resolve conflicting/ambiguous documentation.
• Identify low risk scores and coding/compliance trends; forward problems to Medicare Risk Adjustment Director for resolution.
