Job summary

Houston Community College is seeking a Fall 2026 Student Intern-Prof to gain hands-on experience while supporting business processes within a department or college in Houston, Texas. The role is part-time and requires strong organizational and communication skills.

Under direct supervision, the intern will perform developmental tasks, assist with research and reporting, and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

HCC Co-Op & Internship Program Fall 2026 (Student Intern-Prof) – Houston, Texas – Part-Time – Requisition #260023Z

SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, assigned to a department or college to perform projects and tasks that expands educational interest while developing greater hands-on experience and understanding of the related business processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform developmental and/or rotational assignments.
  • Assist with conducting research, collecting and organizing data, performing analyses and preparing reports.
  • Recommend, design and implement enhancements to related business processes.
  • Propose solutions to existing problems and discuss recommendations with administrative personnel.
  • Participate in studies or projects that support department/college goals.
  • Write speeches, answer correspondence, maintain files, and assists in scheduling and coordinating events.
  • Provide professional support to other areas as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current HCC student enrolled in a Workforce Program that requires an internship.
EXPERIENCE
  • One (1) year experience in an office environment preferred.
  • College studies in related business process preferred, but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills using alphabetical and numerical formats.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possess critical thinking/problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel computer applications
  • Excellent good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with a diverse population
