Job summary

Job Description
  • Follow all health, safely, and environmental requirements;
  • Perform cleanup duties;
  • Perform material handling and storage duties;
  • Identify, use, and care of common hand and power tools;
  • Use and care of craft specific tools and equipment;
  • Knowledge and application of craft related mathematics;
  • Knowledge and use of safety standards and best safety practices relevant to rigging, Inspection of rigging equipment and hardware;
  • Knowledge and application of common hitches, Emergency stop signal, Basic crane hand signals, Knot tying (bowline & clove hitch), and use of rigging equipment relevant to craft specific tasks;
  • Install and/or use inclined plane devices (e.g., ramp, wedge, and chokers, etc.;
  • Lubricate, service, and maintain bearings;
  • Demonstrate proper use and care of power transmission devices;
  • Perform basic service and preventive maintenance on internal combustion engines;
  • Perform cleanup and disassembly/reassembly of heavy equipment;
  • Perform service and maintenance on hydraulic systems;
  • Perform service and maintenance on cooling systems;
  • Perform service and maintenance on brake systems;
  • Perform inspections, service and maintenance on equipment;
  • Perform service and maintenance on electrical devices and systems on heavy equipment;
  • Perform service and maintenance on all cable and hydraulic lifting devices;
  • Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains construction equipment such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, dozers, motor graders, paving machines, trench digging machines, conveyors, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools. ;
  • Operates and inspects machines and equipment to diagnose defects. ;
  • Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and handtools. ;
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers amd gauges. ;
  • Replaces defective parts, engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions. ;
  • Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency. ;
  • Welds broken parts and structural members. ;
  • May direct workers engaged in cle3aning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment. ;
  • May repair, adjust, and maintain all different types of machinery, such as graders, loaders, shovels, hoes, paving and curbing machines, truck tractors, tandem to axle dump trucks, various light duty and heavy duty trailers including detach neck lowboys and hydraulic landolls, fleet light duty vehicles, and all others that are added to the constructino site. ;
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Climb/balance on ladders, scaffolding, and structures for work tasks;
  • Kneel for work positioning and work task performance;
  • Reach above shoulders and away from body to perform work tasks;
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity to perform work tasks
Work Conditions:
  • Work in extreme heat or cold;
  • Work where noise level is above 85 decibels;
  • Work in wet/humid environment;
  • Work in cramped quarters;
  • Work in environment of fluctuating ventilation;
  • Work inside and outside
