Job summary

Chevron Richmond Fire Department is seeking an experienced Incident Commander to lead a 4–7 person unit during fire suppression, medical response, hazmat, and oil spill mitigation at the refinery. You will set up and run the Incident Command System and coordinate with local agencies to protect people and assets.

Qualified candidates will have multiple IC certifications, a California Firefighter license, EMT, HazMat credentials, and a willingness to work a rotational 12-hour schedule including

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an emergency response organization.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ leadership in an emergency response organization.
  • Incident Management System IC-100, IC-200, IC-300, IC-700, and IC-800 certifications.
  • Current California Class C Firefighter and/or Commercial Class A or B Firefighters driver’s license.
  • Firefighter I certification (or equivalent).
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification.
  • Haz-Mat FRO, Technician, or Specialist certification.
  • Possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be able to acquire one within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Rotational twelve-hour work schedule; nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Leads Chevron Fire Department personnel and volunteers during all incidents.
  • Sets up the Incident Command System and acts as refinery management in charge until relieved.
  • Implements Unified Command for incidents with Federal, State, Local, and Chevron authorities.
  • Acts as liaison between Chevron and all other municipal and/or mutual aid agencies.
  • Works directly with the City of Richmond Fire and Police departments during emergency management situations.
  • Respond to off-site emergencies as part of mutual aid agreements.
  • Will fulfill the roll of 2-in/2-out and participate in crew training.
  • Maintain Fitness for Duty qualifications and participate in the Corporate Medical program.
  • Safety Sensitive position with mandatory random drug screenings.
