Job summary

Maine Oxy is seeking a regional over-the-road driver to deliver helium cylinders to established customers. This role offers a predictable weekly route, hotels on the road, and weekends at home.

Depart Monday morning with 3–4 overnight stays per week; you will stay in hotels and return home on Fridays. The route is divided into zones, ensuring a consistent area each week and reliable schedules.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A with HazMat endorsement.
• 1 year driving experience or recent training within past 4 years.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Safely deliver helium cylinders to scheduled repeat customers.
• Load/unload cylinders and return empties to fill plant.
• Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and maintain DOT compliance.
• Complete delivery paperwork and maintain routes/territory records.
• Build relationships with customers and forecast inventory needs.

What to expect on the schedule

This is a regional over-the-road route, not a home-daily job. We are upfront about that because the structure is predictable and the weekends are yours.

Depart Monday morning

On the road Monday through Thursday/Friday

Overnights 3 to 4 nights per week, depending on the zone

Return home on Friday

Territory is divided into 4 zones, one zone per week, so you cover the same general area all week.

You stay in a hotel, not a sleeper

What you will do

• Safely deliver helium compressed gas cylinders to scheduled, repeat customers


• Load and unload cylinders and return empties to the fill plant


• Perform daily vehicle safety inspections


• Complete delivery paperwork and maintain DOT compliance


• Build relationships with regular customers and help manage their inventory needs

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement


• 1 year of driving experience or driving school training within the past 4 years


• High school diploma or equivalent


• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, read highway signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and complete reports

The work and the truck

• Brand new trailer and tractor


• Routinely lift 25 to 75 lbs, occasionally 76 to 100+ lbs


• Frequent bending, standing, walking, reaching, and handling


• Outdoor work in temperatures from -10 to over 100 degrees


• Ability to detect leaking gas from cylinders by sound or smell
