Job summary

Airgas is hiring a CDL Route Driver in Alton, IL. The role involves safe transportation, loading/unloading of compressed gas cylinders, maintaining meticulous documentation, and professional customer relations.

Applicants must have Class A CDL, HazMat endorsement (or obtain within 60 days), and 1 year of verifiable driving experience. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 6 am start, home daily, with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, disability

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Class A CDL.
• HazMat endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs., occasionally 76+ lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Maintain a drug-free workplace and adhere to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods along designated routes.
• Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure satisfaction.
• Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures.
• Handle loading and unloading of all materials.
• Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain safety compliance.
