Job summary
Gundersen Health System is seeking a Hazardous Materials Handler to support the Comprehensive Waste Program and the Environmental Compliance Department. This role will perform duties related to industrial health and hygiene, waste management, safety, environmental reporting and sustainability, with travel to regional and affiliate sites for waste collection and transport.
Based at the Main Campus in La Crosse, WI, this full-time position typically runs Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED - Valid Driver's License (DL), Federal Medical Card, In-House Driver's Road Test Certificate within 60 days of hire
- REQUIRED - High School Diploma/GED
- REQUIRED - At least 1 year of relevant work experience safely transporting and handling hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
- Supports Gundersen's Comprehensive Waste Program and the Environmental Compliance Department under the direction of the Environmental Compliance Manager.
- Travels to and from regional and affiliate sites collecting, weighing, and transporting hazardous waste, pharmaceutical waste, infectious waste, and other identified waste.
- Maintains the hazardous waste rooms and waste inventory across Gundersen's hospitals and clinic locations.
