Job summary

Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking an hourly, non-exempt position responsible for safely processing radioactive and/or mixed waste.

This role involves operating process equipment, waste tracking, and proper forklift operation in an industrial facility, with adherence to ALARA principles. The candidate will read procedures, follow P&ID drawings, and participate in safety meetings while supporting other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs and operate a forklift safely.
• Radiological safety training and 24-hour hazardous materials training required.
• Must be able to wear respiratory protection.
• Able to work in hot or cold environments and follow shift schedules.

Responsibilities

• Operate process equipment and perform waste handling tasks in the facility.
• Track waste streams and ensure proper labeling and container marking.
• Read and follow written operating procedures and P&ID drawings.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and maintain compliance with safety rules.
