Job summary

Burlington County Department of Solid Waste is hiring a Hazardous Waste Operations Technician to protect public health and the environment by safely managing household hazardous waste materials at the Resource Recovery Complex.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering field and at least two years of experience in hazardous materials management. A New Jersey driver’s license is also required, with full-time, on-site work schedule (Tue-Sat, 40 hours).

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of professional experience in the management of hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Handle, process, and manage household hazardous waste in compliance with all applicable regulations
• Classify and segregate hazardous waste materials according to established protocols
• Perform lab packing, consolidation, and labeling of hazardous waste materials
• Ensure full compliance with USDOT, USEPA, and USOSHA standards
• Follow disposal facility protocols for all hazardous materials management activities

Education

Bachelor's degree in environmental, physical, biological, or chemical sciences, or environmental engineering
