The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Operations Manager is responsible for managing all operational activities and staff at the Hazardous Waste facility. This includes overseeing daily operations, facilities, equipment, and personnel to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and health and safety programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Environmental Stewardship – Demonstrates understanding of Metro Waste Authority’s EMS, focusing on recycling, hazardous waste collection, organics, water quality, and GHG reduction.

Travel
Occasional travel within the Des Moines metro area is required.

Physical Demands
Requires communication, manual handling, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and lifting up to 600 pounds. Must be fit to wear a respirator and work in environments with chemical exposure, extreme temperatures, and machinery.
