Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill. The role supports off-loading, material handling, and treatment processes while ensuring safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of equipment operation, basic vehicle inspection, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. A HAZWOPER certification is required or can be obtained upon hire where applicable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance.
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple responsibilities.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.
• Currently hold a 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) or ability to pass course upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operate equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
• Process treatment of materials and containers.
• Sample post-treated materials for laboratory testing.
• Load cleared post-treated materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Perform general preventative maintenance and housekeeping.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
