Job summary

Clean Harbors in South Plainfield, NJ is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety-conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

You will work outdoors in varying conditions, observe safety protocols, operate light and heavy equipment, and participate in emergency response on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor as part of daily field activities.
• Willingness to be on-call for emergency response on a rotating basis.
• Background check, drug test, and medical examination may be required by position.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and use various hand and powered tools.
• Wear and properly use PPE including respirators and protective gear.
• Work in varying outdoor/indoor conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
• Assist in field sampling and calibration of meters as required.
• On-site on-call for emergency response on rotating basis.
