Job summary

Global- a 1st Flagship Company seeks a safety and environmental inspector to conduct vessel and facility inspections, identify hazards, and investigate accidents. The role covers hot work, asbestos, waste management, sampling, and regulatory compliance across multiple locations.

The candidate will perform atmospheric tests, mold abatement, and manage hazardous waste storage, ensuring safety and environmental standards are met in a dynamic marine environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety, environmental, hazardous material and waste regulations.
• Two years of education related to hazardous material career field and two years of relevant hazardous material experience or military experience.
• General computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Current driver's license and compliance with Vehicle Safety manual.
• Complete Shipyard Competent Person (gas-free), AHERA Inspector, 40-hour HAZWOPER, Forklift, respirator qualification.

Responsibilities

• Conducts monthly and annual vessel and facility Workplace Safety/Hazard Inspections.
• Conducts daily waterfront inspections for safety and environmental hazards.
• Identifies hazards and takes action to ensure a safe workplace.
• Investigates safety and environmental accidents and near-misses.
• Conducts hot work and other safety inspections of oil, hazmat, ballast operations.
• Inspects asbestos and preservation operations for safety.
• Performs atmospheric testing for entry and hot work in confined spaces.
• Identifies, collects and analyzes hazardous materials and waste samples.
• Performs heat stress monitoring and noise surveys.
• Identifies and repairs shipboard insulation discrepancies.
• Performs shipboard mold abatement.
• Manages hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage and disposal.
• Pre-designates waste prior to generation and disposal.
• Prepares reports of safety inspections and discrepancies.
