Job summary

North Brunswick, NJ-based JLL is seeking a Hazardous Materials Shipping Specialist. You will handle dangerous goods and regulated samples in a pharmaceutical setting, ensuring DOT/IATA compliance and strict safety practices.

You will prepare shipping documents, select transportation modes, and maintain safety checklists while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet regulatory and company goals. Onsite, day shift, no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare required shipping documents for dangerous goods, diagnostic and research samples while complying with export, customs, GMP and DEA regulations for controlled substances.
• Handle limited quantities and exceptions for hazmat shipping and dangerous goods with strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Select the most appropriate mode of transportation for shipments based on regulatory requirements and efficiency.
• Maintain comprehensive safety checklists and ensure all procedures meet federal, state, and local regulations.
• Execute shipping, receiving, and mail functions with accurate and timely completion of all activities.
• Collaborate with other employees and departments to achieve operational goals.
• Operate required equipment in a safe and approved manner following all company protocols.

Hazardous Materials Shipping Specialist – JLL

What this job involves:

This position involves handling and shipping hazardous materials, dangerous goods, diagnostic and research samples while ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will prepare critical shipping documentation, select appropriate transportation modes, and maintain safety protocols for chemical and biological agents in a pharmaceutical environment. This role requires expertise in DOT and IATA regulations, attention to detail for regulatory compliance, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve departmental and company goals. The position demands precision in executing both written procedures and verbal instructions with strict attention to safety and quality standards.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Prepare required shipping documents for dangerous goods, diagnostic and research samples while complying with export, customs, GMP and DEA regulations for controlled substances

Required Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Adequate skills to perform job functions with minimal supervision
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and move safely to perform job tasks
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and approved manner

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of shipping, receiving, and mail operations
• Experience with GMP and DEA regulations for controlled substances
• Knowledge of export and customs compliance requirements
• Experience working with chemical and biological agents in pharmaceutical environment
• 5+ years of Hazardous Materials shipping experience
• Certified in D.O.T. (49 CFR) Department of Transportation regulations
• Certified in I.A.T.A. (International Air Transport Association) regulations

Work Shift:

Day Shift - Monday to Friday

Salary/ Comp:

$27.17 hourly

Expected compensation for this position:

5,651,360.00 – 56,513.60 USD per year
