Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a hazardous materials handler to identify, remove, and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The role may involve lead-based paint, waste oil, fuels, and contaminated soil, with specialized training and possible regulatory permits required.

The position emphasizes safe operations, record-keeping, and adherence to OSHA procedures. Travel and on-call requirements are expected, and a valid license with minimal moving violations is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 active violations within 3 years.
• HAZWOPER certification preferred but not required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of safety policies and remediation tools.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tools and heavy equipment to remove, package, store or transport loads of waste materials.
• Record container counts and disposal details.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following safety procedures.
• Follow OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety and quality work.
• Prepare and maintain work records and reports such as tickets or inspection results.
• Apply safety policies to protect clients, employees, and the public.
• Interpret information clearly to team members and supervisors.
• Attend staff meetings and collaborate with others.
