Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Hazardous Materials Manager to lead the planning, design, development, and administration of statewide institutional policies for hazardous materials, waste, and universal waste. You will supervise staff, oversee goal setting, and ensure timely determinations and reporting to administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years professional experience in hazardous materials or hazardous waste management.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Must pass post-offer physical and health requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with staff to develop goals, provide direction, and oversee performance.
  • Ensure hazardous waste determinations are completed timely.
  • Assign tasks through a work management system.
  • Prepare reports for administration as required.
  • Supervise Hazardous Materials Specialists and Graduate Students.
  • Provide training and guidance on EH&S programs.
  • Develop and implement safe chemical use and waste minimization programs.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies.
