Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Safety & Health Associate to support a wide range of occupational safety and health programs across campus. You will help investigate injuries, maintain safety databases, and assist with inspections of lab equipment and emergency systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration, timely follow-up actions, and adherence to WVU safety standards, with opportunities to contribute to biosafety and industrial hygiene programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum of four years direct professional EHS experience.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.
• All qualifications must be met by employment date.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investigation of injuries and illnesses and recommend prevention actions.
• Ensure monitoring equipment is calibrated and maintained.
• Maintain asbestos database and collect samples.
• Assist with inspection of emergency eyewash and lab fume hoods.
• Assist with handling inspections and regulatory communications.
• Prepare written/verbal reports and conduct investigations.
