Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking an Environmental Safety Specialist to plan, develop, manage and implement occupational safety and health programs across campus. You will review programs for continual improvement, support incident response, and provide EH&S training to faculty, staff and students.

The role requires a BS in EH&S (MS preferred) and at least four years of related experience. WVU offers a comprehensive benefits package, including holidays, leave, retirement and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and Safety or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum four years of related EH&S experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate injuries and illnesses and recommend prevention measures.
• Assist with accident/injury logs and workers' compensation support.
• Respond to incidents, indoor air quality, and building issues as needed.
• Develop and conduct EH&S training for faculty, staff and students.
• Support biosafety, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene and related programs.
• Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and prepare reports.
