Job summary

Healthforce Healthcare LLC in Hilo, Hawaii is seeking a Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery for a 13-week travel assignment starting 11/09/2026. The role offers 3x12 hour rotating shifts with 36 hours weekly after orientation and no guaranteed hours.

You will provide direct labor and delivery care, monitor fetal status, assist with delivery and postpartum care, document in Meditech, and collaborate with obstetricians and midwives. Hawaii license active by start and BLS/NRP are required.

Qualifications

• Hawaii RN license active by start date.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum of 3 years labor and delivery nursing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an L&D unit with postpartum care; proficient in fetal monitoring and postpartum assessment.
• STABLE and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (FM) recommended.
• Willingness to work variable day/night shifts and 12-hour shifts; on-call at least once per month.
• Arrive the Thursday prior to start to complete employee health clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to laboring patients, including admission assessment, continuous monitoring, and labor support.
• Assist with delivery and immediate newborn care; provide postpartum care for the mother.
• Monitor fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring; interpret trends and respond per clinical protocols.
• Administer medications, analgesia, and orders while monitoring for adverse effects; support newborn stabilization and mother-baby bonding.
• Document accurately in the electronic medical record (Meditech); collaborate with the care team to ensure safety and quality of care.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and ancillary staff; participate in on-call activities as scheduled.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum and newborn care, discharge planning, and safety considerations.
