Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Hauling Operations to lead depot-level operations across our New Jersey footprint. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, budgeting, and staff development within a unionized environment.

You will supervise drivers, dispatchers, and supervisors, drive route optimization, ensure OSHA compliance, and partner with local agencies to maintain service quality while controlling costs.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations with leadership responsibilities.
• Associate degree plus 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Experience supervising teams including drivers, supervisors and dispatchers
• Experience implementing safety(OSHA) programs and cost-control initiatives
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day depot operations and support to Operations managers and supervisors
• Supervise, train, and evaluate site personnel including drivers and dispatchers
• Develop and implement procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize costs
• Ensure safety and OSHA compliance and conduct root-cause investigations for injuries
• Oversee staffing, coaching, disciplining, and performance management
• Coordinate with Customer Service and Sales as needed
• Participate in monthly P&L reviews and budgets
• Schedule safety trainings and defensive driving sessions
• Drive route optimization and vehicle maintenance programs
• Interact with local government agencies to renew contracts and ensure customer satisfaction
