Job summary

Florida Crystals is seeking a front line supervisor for a sugar cane harvesting unit. You will supervise the harvesting crew, coordinate daily activity plans, and ensure safety compliance while working outdoors.

The role requires at least three years of agricultural harvesting experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong communication and time-management skills. CDL preferred for equipment operation.

Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America's first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. We are America's first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. Our renewable energy facility is the largest of its kind in North America and provides clean energy that powers our sugar operations, which helps us reduce our use of fossil fuels. Florida Crystals also sustainably farms rice, sweet corn and other vegetables in rotation with our sugarcane. Our rice mill is the only rice mill in Florida.

OVERVIEW

In this position, the employee will be the front line supervisor of a sugar cane harvesting unit.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Comply with and enforce Florida Crystals Corporation's Environmental Health and Safety Policy (EHS), must understand and adhere to all Osceola's policies and procedures
  • Coordinate safety meetings as required by safety policies and goals.
  • Responsible for harvesting schedule which includes but is not limited to water control at harvest sites,
  • harvest sequence and transportation of harvested cane to the mill.
  • Supervise, communicate and execute the daily activity plan to team members.
  • Manage farm equipment, maintenance and repairs with the shop team.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Manager, coach team members and provide feedback to all levels,
  • and maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all internal departments and outside
  • contractors.
  • Coach, counsel and educate team members on company and Human Resources policies and procedures;
  • support Osceola Farms Co. Work Rules Policy; partner with Human Resources to take corrective action as
  • needed
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency and
  • services performed.
  • All other duties as directed by management representatives
  • Assign duties, such as harvesting of crops or equipment maintenance.
  • Train workers in techniques such as harvesting and in the use of safety measures.
  • Drive or operate farm machinery such tractors when needed.
  • Prepare and maintain time or payroll reports.
WORK EXPERIENCES
  • Minimum of three (3) years of previous agricultural experience working in harvesting operations.
  • Years of experience may be substituted for education.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Responsible for supervising a harvesting crew.

  • A valid driver's license is required. Commercial driver's license a plus.
