Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is hiring General Plant Labor at our Missouri facility. You will perform housekeeping tasks across the plant, support the rendering process from raw material handling to finished goods storage, and help keep equipment and floors clean and safe.

We offer industry-leading wages with starting pay of $22.70 per hour plus a $1 shift differential for 2nd/3rd shifts, comprehensive health insurance, retirement benefits, and education support to help you grow within Smithfield.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical rendering and process equipment.
• Good mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting; skilled in general mechanics and safe operation of equipment.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
• Ability to stand for entire shift.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• General plant housekeeping tasks: sweeping, mopping, trash removal.
• Shovel and clean up spills in the plant.
• Maintain empty barrels of trash and product.
• Clean equipment from top to bottom.
• Assist with unloading screw conveyors.
• Cut plastic and product from screws.
• Keep floor drains clean and covered.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Oversee rendering process from raw material bin to finished goods storage.

Job Description

• General Plant Labor Housekeeping, hosing down floors, moping, sweeping, emptying trash, picking up trash, etc.
• Shovel and clean up spills in the plant
• Keep barrels emptied of trash and product
• Clean equipment from top to bottom
• Help unstop screw conveyors
• Cut plastic and product off of screw
• Keep Floor drains cleaned out and covers on drains
• Expected to perform other duties as assigned
• Oversees rendering process from raw material bin to finished goods storage
