Job summary

Austin Community College District invites applications for the Hart Lab Tech Assistant (Hourly) role in the ACC HART lab. You will assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting HVAC systems and trainers, supporting students and faculty in daily instructional operations.

Requires two years related work experience, a high school diploma, HVAC certification (or in progress), EPA 608 certification, and TDLR registration.

Qualifications

  • Two years related work experience.
  • High school diploma or educational equivalent.
  • 1 year certificate in HVAC or currently working towards certification.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • TDLR Technician Registration required.
  • Ability to use standard office tools and related lab software.
  • Commitment to safety and proper handling of lab materials.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

  • Commission, troubleshoot, repair and start up HVAC systems and trainers.
  • Assist ACC HART Senior Lab Technicians with duties to support students and faculty.
  • Provide support to faculty and students during lab exercises.
  • Inventory tools and supplies and maintain the lab area.
  • Repair lab equipment and assist with day-to-day instructional operations.

Job description

Job Posting Title: HART Lab Tech Assistant (Hourly)

You will be responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems and HVAC trainers in the ACC HART lab environment, as well as assisting ACC HART Senior Lab Technicians with all other duties as required to support our students and faculty in day-to-day instructional operations.

Duties and Tasks
  • Provide support to HART Senior Lab technicians in assisting faculty and students in performing and supporting lab exercises.
  • Inventorying tools and supplies.
  • Cleaning up the lab area.
  • Repairing lab equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge: Office administration and bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Knowledge: specialized discipline depending on the area of assignment.
  • Knowledge: safety principles and practices as it applies to area of assignment.

Required Work Experience

Two years related work experience.

Required Education

High school diploma or educational equivalent.

Special Requirements
  • 1 year certificate in HVAC or currently working towards certification.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • TDLR Technician Registration.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a variety of settings.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Subject to stooping, crawling, and climbing at times.
  • May need to lift heavy objects of up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • May be exposed to a variety of temperatures, noise, moving mechanical parts, or chemicals.
  • Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to focus.
Pay Rate

Pay Rate $23.00/hour, up to 19 hours per week.
