Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time HarmReduction Trainer for the Prevention Program.

The role delivers harm reduction and overdose prevention trainings to community partners across New Orleans and neighboring areas, conducts street outreach, and refers individuals to OHL services or other resources. The trainer represents the Prevention Program in community outreach and supports data collection, documentation, and program coordination under the supervision of the Project

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent
  • Excellent communication interpersonal skills
  • One year experience providing health education to various populations
  • Familiarity with the community served by the Agency
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Deliver naloxone trainings to community-based organizations and partners.
  • Inform community members on naloxone use and access through outreach events.
  • Conduct street outreach and trainings at OHL and partner agencies as directed.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all activities for data collection.

JobSummary

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time HarmReduction Trainer for the Prevention Program. The Harm Reduction Trainer isresponsible for the delivery of harm reduction/overdose prevention trainingprograms to community partners and organizations in New Orleans, Lake Charlesand Bayou Vista areas, conducting street outreach, referring individuals to OHLservices or other appropriate community resources, and representing thePrevention Program at community outreach, as determined by the Project Manager.



Responsibilitiesand Duties


  • provide various community and OHLclient naloxone trainings to community based organizations;

  • inform community members onnaloxone use and access through community outreach events;

  • conduct street outreach, outreachevents, trainings at OHL, trainings at partner agencies, as directed by ProgramManager;

  • conduct data entry and gatheringas directed by Program Manager;

  • works with the harm reduction leadtrainer;

  • maintain comprehensivedocumentation of all activities for data collection;

  • responsible for administrativetasks as directed by Program Manager;

  • responsible for trainingpreparation and facilitation

  • refer individuals to the OHL forprimary medical care and treatment services;

  • refer individuals to the resourceguide as needed;

  • assist with special projects asdirected by the Program Manager;

  • organize workload to completeresponsibilities in an appropriate and timely manner;

  • adhere to ethical practices bystriving to perform in a manner that conforms to the highest standards ofethical behavior, integrity and honesty;

  • take initiative and responsibilityfor decisions as an individual;

  • exhibit commitment to personal andagency-wide goals;

  • participate in the ongoingdevelopment of competencies, technology, and the resources needed to achievehigh standards of efficiency and effectiveness;

Qualifications and Skills


Required:


  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent

  • Excellent communicationinterpersonal skills

  • One year experience providinghealth education to various populations.

Preferred qualifications includethe following:



  • Skilled and experienced indelivery of health education topics to diverse populations

  • Knowledge of various healthcareissues affecting the community served by the Agency

  • Bilingual – English/Spanish,English/Vietnamese
