Job summary

Zipline builds autonomous delivery aircraft and ground systems used daily in varying field conditions. You will develop the validation systems and test infrastructure that ensure battery and power electronics hardware is safe, reliable, manufacturable, and ready for deployment.

The Battery & Power Electronics team delivers power throughout the aircraft—including batteries, power distribution systems, busbars, and power connectors.

Qualifications

• Experience developing validation systems or test infrastructure for complex electromechanical products.
• Ability to design custom fixtures, instrumentation, or automated validation systems.
• Strong CAD skills using NX or SolidWorks for lab equipment and fixtures.
• Solid understanding of measurement systems, sensors, DAQ hardware, and power systems.
• Experience planning environmental, vibration, fatigue, or safety testing.
• Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience developing automated test software using Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or NI TestStand is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and build mechanical, electrical, and software-integrated test equipment for battery and power systems.
• Develop validation strategies for functional, environmental, vibration, thermal, and durability testing.
• Create fixtures, instrumentation, wiring harnesses, and data acquisition hardware for repeatable, high-throughput testing.
• Develop automated test sequences and data workflows to improve repeatability and engineering feedback.
• Plan and execute battery characterization and DV/P/R, vibration, thermal cycling, and electrical validation campaigns.
• Own test readiness reviews, calibration strategy, procedures, and lab safety documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate questions into efficient validation plans.
• Lead standardization efforts and mentor teammates as scope grows across programs.
