Job Description
Insight Global’s Client in San Mateo, CA is seeking a hands‑on Hardware Electrical Engineer to support the validation, sustaining, and continuous improvement of complex electrical systems. This position will focus heavily on electrical troubleshooting, failure analysis, testing, and root cause investigation of PCBAs and system‑level hardware.
The ideal candidate has strong electrical engineering fundamentals and can independently troubleshoot complex hardware issues from initial failure through root cause, corrective action, and validation. This role requires someone who is comfortable working directly at the bench and enjoys soldering, probing boards, running tests, analyzing failures, and solving problems hands‑on.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands‑on electrical troubleshooting and failure analysis of PCBAs and system‑level hardware
- Independently identify root cause of electrical failures and drive issues through corrective action and validation
- Troubleshoot analog, digital, power, and mixed‑signal circuits
- Perform soldering, component rework, probing, and bench‑level debugging
- Analyze customer returns, RMAs, production failures, and field failures
- Determine whether failures are related to design, components, manufacturing processes, or system integration
- Develop and execute electrical validation and test plans
- Validate components and subsystems to improve product quality and reliability
- Drive electrical component and PCB changes related to reliability, manufacturing, and supply‑chain issues
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test and field data
- Partner cross‑functionally with design, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering teams
What Success Looks Like
- This position is best suited for an engineer who combines strong technical depth with a willingness to stay hands‑on. The successful candidate should be comfortable owning difficult electrical problems independently while still spending significant time in the lab debugging, testing, soldering, and troubleshooting hardware.
