As a Electrical Hardware Engineer - System Validation, you will be part of SCRG's engineering team supporting one of our clients, an innovative hardware company based in San Jose, California. You will join a small, dynamic client team responsible for system-level bring-up, debug, and validation of new hardware platforms and components, and help take new products from first power-on through validation in a fast-paced environment.
You will work closely with the client's cross-functional engineering partners to execute test plans, troubleshoot issues, and drive products from early bring-up through validation, with SCRG providing technical oversight and support along the way. This role follows a hybrid work model based in San Jose, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Bring-Up & Validation: Support system-level bring-up, validation, and debug of new hardware products and components.
- Test Planning & Execution: Develop and execute test plans for upcoming product bring-up activities.
- Debug & Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot hardware and system issues, identify root causes, and document findings clearly so the team can act on them.
- Board Design: Design boards using OrCAD or Cadence tools, and bring up boards to specification.
- Test Automation & Scripting: Use scripting to improve test efficiency, automate routine tasks, and support debug workflows.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate with the client's cross-functional engineering teams to help deliver high-quality products to market.
- Status Reporting & Escalation: Track test results, communicate status, and escalation risks or issues to client and SCRG leadership as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Bring-Up & Debug Experience: Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, debug, and testing through industry experience, internships, academic projects, or lab work.
- Embedded Systems: Working knowledge of microprocessors, embedded systems, and board-level debugging concepts.
- Board Design Tools: Experience designing boards in OrCAD or Cadence.
- Scripting: Experience with at least one scripting language, such as Python or Perl.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze technical issues, gather data, and draw sound conclusions.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional Skills: Organized and able to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines; curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn quickly; collaborative and comfortable in a fast-paced engineering environment; self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through; thoughtful and persistent in resolving technical issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
