Job summary

SoloPoint Solutions is seeking an experienced hardware lab technician in San Francisco to support RF hardware projects. You will set up test configurations, operate lab equipment, and maintain firmware and drivers for test instrumentation. Mechanical assembly of prototypes and SMT rework on PCBs from prototyping to production are core duties.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, instrument interfacing with Linux, and familiarity with VNAs and spectrum analyzers to characterize RF performance.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of industry experience as a hardware lab technician, ideally for RF hardware.
• Linux, Python for test programming.
• Strong understanding of fine-pitch soldering, SMT rework, as well as BGA packages.
• Proficient with digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and related tools.
• Experience with mechanical assembly for hardware prototypes through to production.
• Knowledge of Linux to control and interface with instruments is helpful.
• RF test experience with VNAs, noise figure systems, and spectrum analyzers is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Update and manage firmware, drivers, and associated software for test instrumentation
• Mechanical assembly of hardware prototypes as well as final builds
• Perform SMT rework on surface mount PCBs, including 0402, TSOP, SOJ, BGA, and FQFP packages.
