We are seeking an experienced Power Electronics Engineer with a strong background in automotive power electronics design, board-level testing, and validation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Buck and Boost converter topologies, high-voltage systems, EMI/EMC considerations, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing using NI VeriStand.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Gen4 EME board-level circuit design and testing, including Buck tray, Boost tray, and Supervisory Board circuits.
- Design and validate circuits to meet customer requirements and performance specifications at both circuit and product levels.
- Set up and integrate EME and DCE systems with the Powertrain Inverter system.
- Conduct circuit analysis, troubleshoot hardware issues, and prepare detailed system evaluation reports.
- Perform worst-case circuit analysis and evaluate component failure modes.
- Support Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Evaluate high-voltage (800V+) and high-current switching applications.
- Assess EMI/EMC implications of circuit and component design choices.
- Design and test inductors and filters.
- Execute power electronics HIL testing using NI VeriStand.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in the power electronics domain.
- Strong knowledge of power electronics circuit design and validation.
- Hands-on experience with Buck and Boost converter topologies.
- Experience working with high-voltage systems (800V+) and high-current switches.
- Knowledge of worst-case circuit analysis, component failure modes, and DFMEA.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC principles and their impact on circuit design.
- Experience with inductor and filter design and testing.
- Hands-on experience with soldering, oscilloscopes, multimeters, PXIe systems, interfacing sensors, DCE, EME, and high-voltage power supplies.
- Familiarity with schematic design, PCB design, and circuit simulation software.
- Experience with power electronics HIL testing using NI VeriStand.
