Job summary

Skydio, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Hardware Technician to support rapid prototyping across multiple engineering spaces. You will operate and maintain SLA and FDM printers, fabricate parts, assemble hardware, and help keep labs organized in a fast-paced environment.

You will move between labs and collaborate with engineers, identifying high-priority tasks and ensuring reliable lab infrastructure and tooling for the development of autonomous flight systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with 3D printing, machine operation, and material handling.
• Experience with shop tools and basic fabrication equipment.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, including rotor drones or similar systems.
• Experience setting up or improving lab environments.
• Comfortable working on your feet and moving between tasks.
• Familiarity with lab operations and consumables management.
• Experience with CAD tools such as Fusion is a plus.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly hands‑on Hardware Technician to support rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and lab improvement across multiple engineering spaces. This role focuses on operating and maintaining SLA and FDM printers, supporting mechanical assembly, and keeping labs organized and functional. You will spend most of your time on your feet—moving between labs, fabricating parts, assembling hardware, and supporting engineers in a fast‑paced environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Operate and maintain 3D printers, including troubleshooting and material handling
• Support rapid prototyping by fabricating and finishing parts using shop tools and basic fabrication equipment
• Perform mechanical assembly, including drone hardware and similar systems
• Install, modify, and maintain lab and shop infrastructure such as benches, shelving, and test equipment
• Maintain organization and functionality across shared lab spaces
• Move between multiple labs and tasks throughout the day to support engineering teams
• Independently identify and execute the highest priority tasks in a fast‑paced lab environment

What Makes You a Good Fit

• Strong hands‑on experience with 3D printing, including machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and material handling
• Experience using shop tools such as saws, drill presses, sanders, and other fabrication equipment
• Experience with mechanical assembly, ideally including multirotors, RC aircraft, or similar systems
• Experience setting up or improving lab or shop environments (e.g., mounting equipment, building workstations, organizing shared spaces)
• Comfortable working on your feet and moving between multiple tasks and locations throughout the day
• Ability to proactively identify and execute the highest priority work in a fast‑paced environment
• Familiarity with general lab operations, including consumables management and maintenance routines
• Experience with machining tools such as manual or CNC mills is a plus
• Basic experience with soldering, wiring, or cable harnessing is a plus
• Experience with CAD tools such as Fusion is a plus

Compensation

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full‑time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $149,000 - $180,000*. Fundamentally, we believe that equity is the key to long‑term financial growth, and we ensure all regular, full‑time employees have the opportunity to significantly benefit from the company’s success. Regular, full‑time employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s group health insurance plans. Regular, full‑time employees are eligible to receive the following benefits: Paid vacation time, sick leave, holiday pay and 401K savings plan.
