Job description

Our client, Incisive, is growing again!
About Incisive

Incisive is building a better model for restorative dentistry. Independent practices are under pressure: lab consolidation is accelerating, digital dentistry has arrived but most practices are only halfway there, and building a complete workflow alone is expensive, slow, and isolating. We solve that through one partnership: curated labs matched to specific case types, no-cost digital equipment, a portal to track every case and manage every invoice in one place, and a clinical support team to help. More than 650 doctors nationwide trust us, we retain over 95% of them year over year, and we're growing fast. If you have high standards and want to do work that compounds, you'll fit right in.

The Opportunity

The Hardware Engineer is responsible for configuring, testing, deploying, troubleshooting, and repairing the technology that powers our dental customers. This role focuses primarily on Windows laptops, Apple computers, and advanced intraoral/oral scanning equipment used in dental practices. This position requires someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, has excellent troubleshooting skills, and can work directly with manufacturers and vendors to diagnose and resolve hardware issues.

What You'll Do
  • Configure, image, and deploy Windows 10 and Windows 11 laptops.
  • Configure and support Apple macOS devices as required.
  • Install, update, and validate software required for dental scanning systems.
  • Prepare equipment for shipment to customer practices
  • Test all hardware prior to deployment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on laptops and oral scanners.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify recurring equipment failures and recommend permanent solutions.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and RMAs with hardware vendors and manufacturers.
  • Work directly with technical support teams from equipment manufacturers to resolve complex issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including serial numbers, warranty information, repair history, and deployment status.
  • Document troubleshooting procedures and contribute to continuous process improvements.
What You'll Bring
  • 1–3 years of hands‑on hardware support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS.
  • Experience troubleshooting both hardware and software issues.
  • Understanding of laptop hardware components including memory, SSDs, motherboards, wireless networking, USB devices, and docking stations.
  • Experience imaging and configuring Windows computers.
  • Ability to isolate technical problems through structured troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with vendors for warranty claims, repairs, and technical support.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
Bonus if you have:
  • Experience supporting medical or dental technology.
  • Familiarity with intraoral scanners or 3D scanning technology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune or other endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Wi‑Fi, VPN).
  • Experience working with inventory management systems.
  • Apple hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Dell/HP enterprise hardware experience.
What makes someone successful
  • Loves solving difficult technical problems.
  • Is naturally curious and enjoys finding the root cause—not just fixing symptoms.
  • Takes pride in delivering hardware that works perfectly before it reaches the customer.
  • Works well independently while collaborating with teammates and vendors.
  • Pays close attention to detail and maintains accurate documentation.
  • Is organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-growing technology company where every day brings new challenges.
