Job summary

Rugged Science seeks a Hardware Support Specialist to troubleshoot and repair rugged computer systems for demanding clients. The role combines hands-on electronics with remote diagnostics, requiring Linux and Windows proficiency and IPC standards awareness.

You will work with a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment, participate in developing test procedures, and support sales on product configurations while delivering reliable customer support and quality results.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux and Windows environments.
• 5+ years in the computer industry.
• 2+ years troubleshooting and repairing board-level issues.
• Familiarity with IPC standards and certification is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot board-level issues to identify root causes.

• Use client management tools for remote diagnostics.
• Develop custom images per customer and product specs (Windows and Linux).

We are seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Hardware Support Specialist with a can-do attitude. Candidate must be self-motivated, work well independently and in a team setting, and have the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot board-level issues to determine the root cause of product failure.
• Repair defective units in accordance with IPC standards.
• Utilize client management tools for diagnostic troubleshooting to quickly address customer requests remotely.
• Develop custom images per customer and product requirements (Windows and Linux).
• Work closely with the Sales Department to answer configuration and specification questions for new customer products.
• Complete functionality testing of industrial and military products.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standard test procedures for all Rugged Science products.

Requirements include

• Associate's Degree in Computer Science or similar major (preferred).
• 5+ years working experience in the computer industry.
• 2+ years experience troubleshooting and repairing board-level issues.
• Strong understanding of Linux and Windows.
• Experience with and knowledge of electronics and test & measurement equipment.
• Able and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a close-knit team.
• IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721 certification (preferred)
