The Hardware Specialist works closely with cross-functional teams including Technical Support, Field Service, Sales, Project Management, and Professional Development. The role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electro/mechanical equipment, networked computer systems, and software, providing escalation support at the national level.

This position covers the United States and is fully remote, requiring location within one hour of a major metropolitan airport in the Central United States. It involves at least 80% travel, primarily by plane. Our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be part of the National Automation team, reporting to the Automation NSS Supervisor/Manager, and will focus on implementing complex automation systems. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-facing environment and aim to build a world-class diagnostic service organization, read on.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Exercise judgment to solve unique and complex problems with laboratory automation systems.
  • Support product and revenue growth through high-quality implementation processes.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting both on-site and remotely to experienced field service engineers.
  • Work independently within established procedures and collaborate with teammates and installation teams.
  • Transfer knowledge and technical skills to customers through mentoring and training.
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 3+ years relevant experience, or Associate's Degree with 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience in complex electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Willingness to travel domestically at least 80%, often on short notice, and work from a home-based office near a major airport.
Preferred Experience:
  • Customer-facing communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office) and network/LIS troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Standard Laboratory Practices, Quality Control, record keeping, and regulatory requirements.

We support flexible, remote working arrangements for eligible roles. The hourly rate is $40.00 - $45.00, with potential bonus/incentive pay. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance, and 401(k). For more information, visit www.danaher.com.
