Job summary

Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Sustaining Reliability Engineer to shape the long-term reliability and quality of consumer hardware after launch across its device portfolio.

You will own reliability strategy for installed base and scaling manufacturing, driving field failure resolution and influencing design decisions with internal and external partners. Mentoring peers and leveraging data will be central to the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years hardware reliability experience in consumer electronics.
• Experience driving RCA, DOE, and corrective actions on complex systems.
• Knowledge of industry test standards (ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, IEC).
• Familiar with failure analysis tools and reliability data interpretations.
• Ability to lead across teams and vendors in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability strategy and KPIs for products in market and manufacturing.
• Drive root-cause resolution, obsolescence management, and RMA optimization.
• Partner with internal leaders and suppliers to sustain field performance.
• Define field signal analytics, health telemetry, and failure-reaction frameworks.
• Lead complex RCA and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Provide DFR and architectural guidance for new product categories.
• Manage quality systems and influence durable post-launch quality improvements.
• Translate data into risk assessments for executive decision-making.
• Mentor reliability engineers and elevate team capability.
