Aurora Innovation Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Hardware Quality Assurance Engineer II to join our Hardware Safety and Quality team.

You will help establish and maintain the Quality Management System aligned with ISO 9001 across hardware design, development, and operations. You will collaborate with design, engineering, production, and operations, conduct internal audits, drive corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement through Six Sigma and Lean methods, while ensuring

Qualifications

Practical experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, QA, or related field; Master’s a plus.
Typically 3+ years in Quality Engineering or related roles.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management methodologies.
Experience with RCA, FMEA, SPC and similar methods.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
CQE certification desirable.
Experience with IATF 16949, ISO 26262.
Knowledge of Minitab or similar statistical software.
Experience programming or scripting (C++, Python) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 standards for hardware product design and development processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, production, and operations to help integrate quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Participate in internal audits, risk assessments, and management reviews to help ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and support continuous improvement of the QMS.
Assist in coordinating and delivering quality-related training programs to increase awareness and encourage adherence to quality processes and standards.
Analyze data and metrics related to product quality, help troubleshoot issues, and support implementation of corrective actions as necessary.
Support quality improvement projects and initiatives, applying methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean principles to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Contribute to ISO 9001-related inquiries and audit preparation, working with program leads and external auditors as required.
Maintain accurate documentation and records related to quality activities, audits, and compliance assessments.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and updates related to ISO standards, and recommend opportunities for improvement in quality management.
Use lean tools, statistical techniques and analytical methods to support problem solving, root cause discovery and corrective action (8D, 5-Why).
Track quality performance metrics, help prioritize issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams.
Work on continuous improvement of quality processes and procedures and assist with development of quality objectives complementary to organizational objectives.
Participate in initiatives to support business and quality objectives.
