Job summary

Aurora in Pittsburgh is seeking a Hardware Quality Assurance Engineer II to help establish and maintain a ISO 9001-based QMS for hardware design and development, collaborating with design, engineering, production and operations to ensure quality throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Practical experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Typically 3+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or related roles, with exposure to quality management systems, hardware product development, and operations.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management methodologies.
• Experience with quality tools and techniques such as RCA, FMEA, SPC, and similar methods.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Certification in Quality Management (e.g., ASQ CQE) is desirable but not required.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Support development, implementation, and maintenance of the QMS aligned with ISO 9001 for hardware product design and development processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
• Participate in internal audits, risk assessments, and management reviews to ensure ISO 9001 compliance and drive QMS improvements.
• Assist in coordinating and delivering quality-related training programs.
• Analyze data and metrics related to product quality and support corrective actions.
• Support quality improvement projects using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
• Contribute to ISO 9001 inquiries and audit preparation with program leads and external auditors.
• Maintain documentation and records related to quality activities and audits.
• Stay current with ISO standards and recommend quality process improvements.
• Use lean tools and statistical methods for problem solving and root cause discovery.
• Track quality performance metrics and drive cross-functional improvements.
• Support development of quality objectives aligned with organizational goals.
• Participate in initiatives to support business and quality objectives.
