Job Description

Hardware Product Line Manager, SASE & Security HPE Networking, SD-WAN Portfolio Overview HPE Networking is hiring a Hardware Product Line Manager to own the technical specifications, performance, commercials, and supply of our SASE and Security hardware portfolio including EdgeConnect, Session Smart Router (SSR), SD-Branch product lines. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of demand and supply, cost and pricing, and hardware systems. The person in this role will be the one who keeps our appliance business supplied, buildable, and profitable, and who turns demand, COGS, and lead-time signals into concrete forecasting and pricing decisions that leadership can act on. This role is central to product engineering, field sales, operations, demand planning, and supply chain, and will regularly bring pricing recommendations, demand plans, and other critical decisions forward for VP and executive approval.

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Planning & Hardware Systems

Contribute to multi-year SASE and Security hardware portfolio planning and HW convergence, including derivative platform strategy across EdgeConnect, SSR, SD-Branch, and SRX and the associated ODM/JDM cost assumptions. Partner with hardware engineering on platform definition across x86 and Arm-based systems, including processor, memory, storage, mechanical, and port configuration trade-offs and their cost implications. Drive platform lifecycle decisions, including End of Sale (EoS) timing and replacement planning. Lead New Product Integration (NPI) phase-gate deliverables as needed (for example business case inputs, SKU creation, and pricing commit), in partnership with the program and engineering teams. Understand the requirements and implementation for secure supply chains from manufacturing through end-customer acceptance. Expertise in embedded Linux systems, x86, and ARM architectures.

Pricing Strategy & Price Actions

Drive the recurring pricing actions across the hardware portfolio, translating COGS movements into per-model list price recommendations and guiding them through the approval process (PLM leadership, finance, and the executive Product Approval Committee (PAC). Own the per-SKU margin analysis, including allocated uplifts to COGS including transfer, cost of sales, logistics and warranty, while factoring in real-world discount behavior. Identify which platforms need targeted price increases versus across-the-board moves. Model the interplay between hardware and software pricing (for example using measured SW increases to distribute the impact of HW-only increases) to protect blended unit margin while limiting market disruption. Coordinate price change execution with pricing operations, including SKU-level submissions, price list updates in sales back-office systems, and partner and regional communications and timing. Maintain competitive pricing intelligence and use it to defend product model price positioning on cost-sensitive deals. Support deal-level discount approvals by providing timely margin analysis on hardware SKUs and blended deal margins.

Forecasting, Demand & Supply Chain Ownership

Own end-to-end demand forecasting for the hardware portfolio, reconciling pipeline, install base, and backlog data into a clear, defensible unit forecast per platform and SKU. Serve as the dedicated supply chain liaison for the portfolio, absorbing this responsibility so it is formally owned rather than handled ad-hoc, and giving the field a single, reliable point of contact for lead times, availability, and delivery commitments. Close the visibility gaps between the field, sales ops, demand planning of record (DPOR), and supply chain, ensuring real demand actually lands in the planning tools rather than "rolling in the dark," and manually surfacing large or out-of-cycle opportunities that are not yet reflected in the pipeline. Drive transparency on backlog and projected availability dates so account teams get accurate, confidence-rated guidance on when customers can expect material deliveries. Track order status, shipments, and lead times for strategic deals, and proactively chase and resolve delivery issues before they become escalations. Build and maintain forecasting and reporting tooling so demand and lead-time visibility is faster, more consistent, and less dependent on manual chasing. Partner with demand planning and the components team on the monthly planning cycle and on last time buy demand plans, recognizing the immediate capital impact of those buys.

Supply Chain Cost, Components & COGS

Own the ongoing COGS scrubs with supply chain and finance, tracking cost changes across ODM/JDM suppliers and flagging margin impact as it develops. Manage component lifecycle risk (for example DDR4 to DDR5 transition, processor and BIOS EoL exposure, obsolete power components) and drive mitigation through last time buys, requalification, or platform derivation. Review and approve BOM changes in coordination with manufacturing operations and the PCM-PG team.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees including Master of Science and/or MBA a plus.
  • 8+ years in hardware product management, hardware operations, supply chain, or a closely related discipline, ideally in networking, security, or embedded systems.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with direct experience building COG
