Job Description
As compute density and cooling complexity increase, OCI depends on hardware platforms that are both innovative and deployable at scale. This role ensures new designs are consistent, practical, and ready for global deployment.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Platform Development & Integration- Lead integration of rack-level hardware platforms for data center deployment
- Ensure designs meet requirements for mechanical integrity, thermal performance, serviceability, and scale
- Drive system‑level design across compute, cooling, and infrastructure interfaces
- Partner with internal and external teams to validate designs
Data Center Interface & Deployment Readiness- Define platform interfaces with infrastructure, including:
- Liquid cooling (CDUs, fluid routing, connections)
- Installation, transport, and handling
- Facility interfaces (space, power, cooling, serviceability)
- Ensure deployment readiness and resolve gaps impacting scale
Telemetry & Observability- Define telemetry requirements (power, temperature, flow, pressure, system health)
- Ensure instrumentation is enabled at deployment
- Partner with software/data teams to support monitoring and analysis
- Identify and close gaps in telemetry coverage and data quality
Standards & Documentation- Drive standardization across rack platforms
- Establish best practices for connections, transport, leak detection, and instrumentation
- Maintain documentation as a source of truth
Cross-Functional Leadership- Collaborate across OHD, engineering, operations, supply chain, and software teams
- Align with external partners (OEMs, silicon vendors)
- Drive technical decisions and bring structure to complex efforts
Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement- Track and resolve platform issues, especially during early deployment
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Use field data and telemetry insights to improve designs and processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
- 6+ years in hardware engineering, mechanical systems, or data center infrastructure
- Experience with complex, rack- or system-level hardware
- Strong foundation in mechanical, thermal, and/or fluid systems
- Experience with hardware instrumentation/telemetry is a plus
- Proven ability to drive outcomes across teams
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Data center infrastructure and rack-level design experience
- Familiarity with liquid cooling (e.g., direct-to-chip, CDU systems)
- Experience with platform standardization or system integration at scale
- Experience working with hardware vendors or OEMs
- Exposure to high-density compute platforms (e.g., GPUs)
- Experience supporting deployment or commissioning
- Familiarity with telemetry or performance monitoring systems
What We’re Looking For
- Ownership: Takes responsibility beyond defined scope
- Systems Thinking: Understands hardware, infrastructure, and operations holistically
- Execution: Drives progress in ambiguity
- Collaboration: Influences across teams
- Detail Orientation: Ensures designs are practical and deployment-ready
