Job summary

Moultrie in Birmingham, Alabama, seeks an Engineering Technician to support our hardware and firmware teams. This hands-on, in-lab role executes builds, rework, and test support, and serves as the go‑to resource for PCB rework, prototype builds, fixture fabrication, and test fleet maintenance so engineers stay focused on design.

You’ll work with SMD and through‑hole parts, perform precision soldering, use 3D printing for fixtures, and operate lab tools.

Qualifications

Hands-on electronics experience in an engineering lab or manufacturing setting.
Proficient with SMD rework and fine-pitch components.
Ability to read schematics and PCB layout documents.
Experience with CAD-based fixture/enclosure design is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform precision soldering and rework on PCBAs, including component removal and replacement.
Lift and replace fine-pitch components using hot air rework stations and reflow tools.
Interpret schematics and assembly drawings to execute modifications accurately.
Inspect rework with microscopes and document outcomes.
Assemble and rework prototype units across EVT, DVT, and PVT phases.
Prepare boards and units for testing and maintain build records.
Design, build, and maintain test fixtures and jigs for hardware validation.
Use 3D printing to fabricate fixture components from design to final part.
Maintain the engineering test fleet and organize lab resources.
Communicate status and blockers clearly to engineers.
