Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Hardware Functional Safety Engineer for the Electric Power Conversion group. You will drive functional safety development of internally designed power electronics components, collaborate across systems, hardware and software teams, and lead safety documentation and verification efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with strong hardware focus.
• Experience applying ISO 26262 in automotive or IEC 61508 environments.
• Demonstrated ability to develop safety concepts, architectures and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop Hardware FTA, FMEA & FMEDA for electrical hardware design.
• Serve as Safety expert in cross-functional design decisions.
• Derive mission profiles and FIT rates for hardware components using IEC/industry standards.
• Develop hardware safety concepts, architecture and requirements for subsystems and components.
• Collaborate with software safety analysis and architecture development.
• Define and maintain traceability from safety requirements to tests and artifacts.
• Create Design Verification Plans and perform fault injections.
• Support hardware and software test teams in verification activities.
• Contribute to hazard analysis and safety documentation across the vehicle.
