Hardware Failure Analysis Engineer (RMA Focus)

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer for the Technical Operations team. This role involves collaborating with HW Engineering, SW Engineering, and Customer Support teams to perform root cause failure analysis on customer product RMAs.

Your Responsibilities

• Conduct failure analysis on returned products, characterizing failures, and escalating issues to the Hardware Quality Engineering team.
• Resolve escalated RMAs by identifying the hardware root cause of failures.
• Track and report RMA failure trends by product and cause.
• Monitor ongoing RMAs requiring failure analysis and prioritize accordingly.
• Ensure corrective actions are effective in improving products.
• Maintain accurate data in SAP and Salesforce databases.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux system administration skills.
• Solid understanding of network protocols.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Collaborative working style.
• Proficiency in programming languages/tools such as Linux OS, Tcl, Expect, Shell Script, Python, and experience with network switches, terminal servers, and PDU.
• Knowledge of server/client and IP networking hardware at system and component levels.
• Hardware debugging skills to component level and fault isolation.
• Knowledge of Salesforce, JIRA, and SAP is a plus.
• Ability to read schematics and view board files using Allegro Viewer and Cadence PCB Design.
• Must be local to the SF Bay Area to be onsite.

Education & Experience

• BSEE, BSCS, BSCE, or BSET degree.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience in the computer networking industry.
