Job description

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer for the Technical Operations team. This role involves collaboration with HW Engineering, SW Engineering, and Customer Support teams to perform root cause failure analysis on Customer product RMA’s.

Your Impact

• Drive failure analysis of returned products, characterize failures, and escalate issues and trends to the Hardware Quality Engineering team.
• Resolve escalated RMAs by identifying the hardware root cause of failure.
• Track and report failure trends by product and cause to the Tech Ops team.
• Prioritize and monitor the progress of all in-progress RMAs requiring failure analysis.
• Ensure effectiveness of process and product corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate data entry into SAP and Salesforce databases.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux system administration skills.
• Knowledge of network protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative working style.
• Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Linux OS, Tcl, Expect, Shell Script, Python, network switches, terminal servers, and PDU.
• Ability to understand server/client and IP-based network hardware at system and component levels.
• Hardware debugging skills down to component level.
• Knowledge of Salesforce, JIRA, and SAP is preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and view board files (Allegro Viewer, Cadence PCB Design).
• Must be local to the SF Bay Area for onsite work.

Education and Experience

• BSEE, BSCS, BSCE, or BSET required.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience in the computer networking industry.
