Job summary

Lennox International offers a Hardware Engineering Co-Op to aspiring engineers. You will work with experienced hardware engineers on real-world HVAC hardware projects, gaining hands-on experience in design, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Completion of electrical design coursework.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and circuit analysis.
  • Familiarity with electrical laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with electrical design activities for residential HVAC control products.
  • Support circuit evaluation, component selection, and design verification efforts.
  • Contribute to engineering documentation and design‑related activities.
  • Gain exposure to industry‑standard hardware development processes.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, validation, and laboratory testing activities.
  • Support engineers in conducting electrical and functional testing of hardware systems.
  • Help collect, organize, and analyze test results to support product development efforts.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and debugging activities to identify and resolve hardware issues.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers and cross‑functional teams on engineering initiatives.
  • Support assigned project work throughout the internship, including planning, testing, and reporting activities.
  • Present project findings and accomplishments to Lennox leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Electrical Design & Development
  • Assist with electrical design activities for residential HVAC control products.
  • Support circuit evaluation, component selection, and design verification efforts.
  • Contribute to engineering documentation and design‑related activities.

Prototype Assembly & Testing
  • Assist with prototype assembly, validation, and laboratory testing activities.

Product Documentation & Analysis

  • Contribute to process improvements and documentation updates as needed.
Team & Project Support
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers and cross‑functional teams on engineering initiatives.
  • Support assigned project work throughout the internship, including planning, testing, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, and project discussions.
  • Present project findings and accomplishments to Lennox leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
POTENTIAL PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES:
Residential HVAC Controls
  • Support the design, development, and testing of residential HVAC control systems.
  • Assist with prototype evaluation, product verification, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Contribute to engineering activities that improve product performance and reliability.

What We Are Looking For

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Entry Level.Developing professional knowledge in the area of expertise. Solid written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is an hourly non‑exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $22.50 – $25/hour. This rate is based on the intern's current year in their respective university programs. Graduate students may receive a higher rate of pay based on their year in school. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
