Job summary

Lennox in Carrollton, TX is seeking an Advanced Technology Intern to work with engineers on next-generation HVAC technologies, analyze performance data, and support R&D projects.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Understanding HVAC&R principles: thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics.
  • Knowledge of design of experiments, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Experience with Python, VBA, or EES for scientific programming.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Basic project management skills and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with R&D projects focused on next-generation HVAC technologies.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Research & Development Support
  • Assist engineers with research and development projects focused on next-generation HVAC technologies.
  • Support the evaluation, testing, and analysis of new products, systems, and concepts.
  • Participate in technical investigations and contribute to innovative engineering solutions.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Testing & Data Analysis
  • Assist with prototype testing and performance evaluations.
  • Support the design and execution of experiments, including data collection and analysis.
  • Analyze test results and help identify opportunities for product or system improvements.
  • Utilize engineering tools and software to document findings and communicate results.
HVAC Systems & Technology
  • Gain hands-on exposure to HVAC&R principles, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Support projects involving motors, sensors, controls, and system performance optimization.
  • Assist with simulations and testing activities to evaluate system functionality and efficiency.
  • Learn industry standards and best practices related to HVAC technology development.
Team & Project Support
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical teams on project activities and business initiatives.
  • Assist with project coordination, documentation, and technical reporting.
  • Participate in problem-solving efforts to address engineering challenges.
  • Take on special projects that provide exposure to different areas of advanced technology and product development.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Understanding of HVAC&R principles, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Knowledge of design of experiments, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience with scientific programming tools such as Python, VBA, or EES.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Basic project management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
NICE TO HAVE:
  • Understanding of HVAC industry standards and practices.
  • Experience with HVAC&R system simulations and testing.

What We Are Looking For

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Entry Level.Developing professional knowledge in the area of expertise. Solid written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $22.50 - $25/hour. This rate is based on the intern's current year in their respective university programs. Graduate students may receive a higher rate of pay based on their year in school. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
