Job summary

DoorDash Labs is seeking a Hardware Engineer to lead mechanical architecture and packaging for our next-generation autonomous delivery vehicle. You will own electronic enclosures, housings, and vehicle integration that withstand demanding fleet environments.

You will collaborate across mechanical, electrical, PCB design, and manufacturing teams to deliver durable, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs with strong design-for-manufacturability focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience designing electromechanical products and rugged hardware from concept through production.
• Packaging compute/electrical/sensor hardware into robust assemblies and enclosures.
• Experience with die castings, injection moldings, stampings, extrusions, machined parts, seals, brackets, welded assemblies.
• Integrating PCBAs, connectors, wire harnesses, cooling solutions, and serviceable electrical interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design and release of electronic packaging, housings, enclosures, and vehicle integration solutions.
• Design castings, injection-molded parts, stampings, seals, brackets, and mounts.
• Create production-quality 3D CAD models and drawings; lead design reviews.
• Define mechanical requirements for electrical, compute, and subsystems.
• Perform GD&T, tolerance analyses, and stack-ups.
• Develop verification plans including proof-of-concept builds and bench tests.
• Collaborate with electrical, PCB, manufacturing, reliability, and operations teams.
• Lead DFx activities with manufacturing and suppliers; manage packaging tradeoffs.
