Job summary

Base is building the future of residential energy. As a Hardware Engineering Intern, you’ll work hands-on from prototyping to production support alongside seasoned engineers in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

You’ll design, test, and iterate electrical and mechanical systems, contribute to R&D and manufacturing, and help resolve performance and thermal issues. This in-person internship offers real product work and a chance to ship solutions that impact the energy transition.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of electrical or mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Hands-on hardware development and building real-world solutions.
  • Experience with CAD design (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design, simulate, build, and test electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Participate in hands-on prototyping, debugging, and iterative testing of early- and late-stage hardware.
  • Support both R&D and production efforts—from breadboard to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Help diagnose and solve real-world performance, thermal, and integration issues.
  • Contribute to system documentation, test procedures, and design reviews.
